Simoncini.Tangi is an artistic duo born from the encounter between the scientific research of Pasquale Tangi and the artistic practice of Daniela Simoncini. Since 2006 they have lived and worked in Prato, developing an interdisciplinary path in which art, science, and nature converge into a shared reflection on time, transformation, and the relationships between living beings and their environment.

Daniela Simoncini (Poggibonsi, 1972) graduated in 1996 from the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, Painting Department, under Gianfranco Notargiacomo. She complements her artistic training with studies in theatre and voice with Gabriella Bartolomei, and contemporary dance with Cristina Bonati. Since 2003 she has deepened embodied practices such as Tai Chi, Yoga, and Feldenkrais with Butoh dancer Ran Ishiwa, developing a research on the body as a site of listening, perception, and relational awareness. Since 2020 she has been a member of the group Gina X.

Pasquale Tangi (Faeto, 1980) graduated in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florence in 2008. In 2019 he attended the Master’s programme Futuro Vegetale, conceived by neurobiologist Stefano Mancuso and Leonardo Chiesi, focusing on the connections between humans, the environment, and natural systems. The son of a watchmaker, he developed an acute sensitivity to mechanisms, rhythms, and gears as metaphors for natural processes. His vision of time—understood as the silent structure of matter and life—intertwines with Daniela’s explorations of the body and breath, giving shape to works capable of revealing the fragility, memory, and beauty of the invisible microcosms that sustain the world.

Among their main formative experiences are Manufatto in situ in Foligno (2010), in collaboration with Viaeindustriae, Neoncampobase, Caretto & Spagna, and international artists; the workshop Noi come Animali at P.A.V. in Turin (2012) with Piero Gilardi and Orietta Brombin; the laboratories Z.E.A. #02 | La Subida al Quemado and Z.E.A. #03 | Inventare Paesaggi Sociali in Milan (2014); and the Community Art project with Annie Raw, Giacomo Bazzani, and Francesca Catastini at Fondazione Vivarelli in Pistoia (2016).

In the following years, they further explored the design of green spaces and eco-sustainable gardens, participating in workshops with biologist Andrea Vannini and in the Start Park project with CUT | Circuito Urbano Contemporaneo, aimed at the regeneration of neighbourhood gardens in Prato. Between 2021 and 2024 they integrated artisanal and artistic skills, from goldsmith training with Master Andrea Giunti in Florence to Alessandra Ribaldone’s Raku ceramics workshop at the Open Air Museum Italo Bolano on the Island of Elba, consolidating a practice marked by technical experimentation and interdisciplinary research.

Their research focuses on processes of material transformation, micro-variations of light, and the rhythms of natural time, with particular attention to the fragility of ecosystems and the layered relationships between species, places, and human presence. Their work unfolds through installations, photography, video, artistic residencies, workshops, and participatory projects, creating sensory and experiential pathways that invite listening and contemplation.

Presented in museums, galleries, and public spaces in Italy and abroad, their works oscillate between microcosms and natural landscapes, between mechanisms and breath, between measurement and perception. Within this tension emerges a phenomenology of origins, in which time is not linear but organic and cyclical—birth, growth, transformation, and dissolution—becoming a shared space of memory, care, and responsibility toward the living world.
